The Old Market Square and Smithy
Row will once again be transformed into a magical festive
scene for Nottingham's Christmas 2012 celebrations.
Nottinham's Christmas lights will be switched on
in the Old Market Square and throughout the streets
of Nottingham city centre on Wednesday 21st of November.

Christmas
Lights Switch On
On Wednesday 21st November, the Christmas lights will be
switched on at 6.20pm by Paralympic Gold medallist Richard
Whitehead and will mark the start of Nottingham's Christmas
2012 celebrations.
The city centre will come alive with a wonderful selection
of traditional children's rides, including a carousel and
reindeer ride, delicious festive food and drink, a grand
Christmas tree and the popular craft and gift market - selling
unique festive handmade gifts.
The entertainment will begin at 5.30pm and will include
the Nottingham Music School providing traditional singing
and music, and exciting street entertainers will perform
during late night shopping to create a magical Christmas
atmosphere. |

Christmas
2012 Attractions
New
attractions for Christmas 2012 will include an authentic
two storey Victorian bar and food area together with a unique
fully animated singing snowman! - which is sure to be a
big hit with the children.
For
those wanting thrills and excitement, you will be happy
to hear the magnificent 60 metre high Star Flyer ride will
make its return to the Old Market Square, and the site will
have a festive "makeover" with snow, 150 Christmas
trees as well as a grand 40 metre high Christmas tree as
the centre piece.
Traditional Christmas market stalls will compliment the
shops surrounding the square which you can browse to search
for that perfect Christmas gift from the handmade gifts
and crafts on offer.
Programme of Events
5.45pm - Music by Scarlet
Rhymes - Urban duo consisting of cousins Cole & SainT.
Their music are raw soulful vocals and melodies infused
with urban beats and rhymes.
5.00pm - 8.30pm Street
Entertainment featuring: Mark Mark Productions presents
A Christmas Carriage - Mr Scrooge and Mr Scratchit in their
Christmas Carriage ready to ruin the fun, and wish everyone
a thoroughly miserable Christmas ... Bah Humbug! SWANK presents
Festive Frolics - A pair of slightly round Christmas Fairies,
Sugar and Plum, are gorgeously attired in pink and silver
with their very own giant Christmas pudding. These fairies
are full of Christmas fun, are downright greedy and are
accompanied by background music from the Christmas pudding
itself. Maynard Flip Flap presents the Tap Dancing Turkeys
- Bernice and Matthew bring to Nottingham their feathery
combination of tap dance, turkey talk and Christmas shopping
tips.
6.05pm - Music by boyband
'For The Weekend' - Dubbed by the media as the UK's number
1 new boy band, FTW have injected personality back into
pop since exploding onto the scene in 2011.
6.20pm - Official light
switch on by Paralympic Gold medallist Richard Whitehead.
6.30pm - 7.30pm Nottingham
Music School Concert Orchestra
