| Welcome
to Stapleford on the Web
Stapleford
in Nottinghamshire is
located in the Erewash valley, close to the Derbyshire-Nottinghamshire
border and approximately halfway between Derby and Nottingham.
The name 'Stapleford'
is thought to originate from 'the post by the ford', so it is
not surprising that it is a common English place name and there
are thought to be some 17 Staplefords across the country.
During the 20th century Stapleford developed from a village,
with a farm at the crossroads marking the village centre, to a small
industrial town, but the late 20th century saw much de-industrialisation.
In recent years however, re-generation of Stapleford has been
prominent and we have over 200 businesses listed in the Business
Index on this website and are still adding more.
Stapleford is near the geographic centre of England &
Wales and at the modern hub of the country's
transport network. The M1 motorway, main railway line,
river and canal are all within a few miles,
as is the East
Midlands Airport, and major new developments are planned for
the railway and
Nottingham Tram networks.
Stapleford is a friendly 'close-knit' community-based
town and is surrounded by countryside. You can see green fields
and trees from most streets in the town with the Erewash
Canal and River forming the western boundary. If you
are considering relocating to Stapleford, see here for typical
house prices.
